Background artwork by Matija Švaco

Weekly CG Challenge #136 “Insect Vehicle” has ended!

We received 43 accepted submissions. Congrats to the three winners Matija Švaco, Mike Crinella and Alexander Schmid. See the winners and all entries below.

Please note: Concerning the prizes, we will contact you in the next two weeks.

Topic Description
Insect Vehicle It may seem like an odd topic, but think of it: Insects are the perfect vehicles! They are robust, agile, strong and light and can master all sorts of terrains. The only downside is of course their scale, but that won’t bother us artists, right? So either make the insect gigantic or the driver microscopic. Maybe the driver isn’t even human at all? Maybe the insect vehicle is in fact a robot fashioned in the likeness of a bug? There are endless possibilities!

We pick three winners for each challenge. The winners will be announced a few hours after the challenge has ended. The prizes will be distributed like this: The 1st winner can choose 7 prizes of the list below. The 2nd winner can choose 6 of the prizes the 1st winner does not choose, from the list below. The 3rd winner can choose 6 of the remaining prizes, from the list below.

Prizes for this challenge:

1st place by Matija Švaco‎
A really fantastic design and render; techically excellent with subtle insect-like features. Overall the model is presented cleanly and effectively.

2nd place by Mike Crinella

A superb and eye-catching concept, brilliantly executed. It’s incredibly striking as a thumbnail, and in detail.

3rd place by Alexander Schmid

A great design and model, well intergrated into the background image. Perhaps the framing and overall presentation could have shown the vehicle off better, but it’s still a strong entry.
